NPTE 2019: Call for Topic Papers & Board Nominations

#1

Dear colleagues,

NPTE 2019 Topic Papers

This is just a reminder that we are approximately 1.5 months away from the deadline for submitting topic papers for the NPTE 2019. I wanted to encourage everyone to set aside some time to write topic papers for this year’s NPTE. Thank you to everyone who participated last year–I really enjoyed working with all of the topics.

As previously announced, we have made some changes for NPTE 2019 topics. Rather than submitting a paper about a controversy area (with six potential resolutions), students/coaches/members of the community may submit a paper about a single topic (with information about the background/importance of the topic, potential aff/neg ground, and a bibliography).

The submission guidelines are as follows: https://www.nptedebate.org/tournament_rules#article-i-section-1-a

The deadline for submission is November 30, 2018.

NPTE 2019 Election

The NPTE Board is in the midst of discussing elections and board structure: https://board.nptedebate.org/t/elections-and-board-structure/1106/6

While we have not yet voted or made any final decisions, we will have at least one board position opening. If you would like to run for election, please let us know by the topic submission deadline on Nov. 30. We will hold an election for a new board member(s) at the same time that we vote for NPTE 2019 topics.

If you have questions about anything, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
